Escondido was incorporated in 1888 and is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County. As of 2020, Escondido had a population of 151,038.

Escondido has many attractions, including the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, Orfila Vineyards and Winery, and Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens.
